Artist Robert Good discusses 'What is art?' in the context of a project to collate over 3,000 internet definitions into his book, A New Dictionary of Art.
Take your pick from a cacophony of competing claims for the truth about art – formal, informal, humorous and scurrilous all fight it out on the page. Good will argue that this undifferentiated accumulation of responses creates a wonderful and energising summation of all the potentials that art can be, and is in some ways more honest than any single definition can ever be. Will include a short reading from the Dictionary and a chance for discussion and questions.
This event is part of Cambridge Festival of Ideas.
