28 October 2017, 13:00 - 17:00
Gather together for free tea and cake, to celebrate dialogue with strangers.
Our rotating table will decide who you speak with and for how long, in this real-life musical chairs. The 21st century sees us more connected than ever, but we find our opinions reflected in our own virtual echo chambers, surrounded by like-minded friends and communities of interest. We can also challenge others views, protected by online anonymity, but would we share our thoughts so freely in person? The ‘Gatha™’ table encourages us to practice the art of face-to-face encounter, while taking away responsibility for hello and goodbye. Topics of conversation will be crowd-sourced and served to you as lovingly crafted confectionary.
This is a drop-in event, so come along any time during the afternoon for as long or as little as you like.
Facilitated by Michelle Fava and Sophie Friese-Greene.
This event is part of Cambridge Festival of Ideas.
