Ever wanted to be involved in a creative project at your university? We’re giving you the opportunity to DESIGN to a brief, MAKE a product and SELL it to your local community? And keep your profits!
For the second year running, Design Make Sell is brought to you by NACUE, Anglia Ruskin University and your very own enterprise society from the end of October until December 2017. You're invited to join us as we turn an idea into reality and make new friends.
You’ll have the opportunity to be involved in practical, knowledge-building sessions around networking, generating new ideas, designing your customer's experience journey and perfecting your pitch. Develop your designs into a real products over the course of a weekend, and gain practical experience as you sell and interact with real customers.
It was awesome! It has been brilliant to learn about how possible it is to take your ideas and put these into the industry; it has made me realise that the boundaries are a lot bigger than you thought when it comes DMS
In 2016, the winning team made an amazing profit of £451. Can you do better?
We’re looking for students with energy, drive and competitive flare, that are ready to work collaboratively and build upon their business skills. Is that you? This is a one-off opportunity and places are limited, so book now to avoid disappointment!
We’re offering the first five sign-ups the opportunity to attend the Student Enterprise Conference for FREE. It's held at Aston University in February 2018.
Each team will be given a brief. Over 24 hours, you'll brainstorm, research and pitch your concepts. Successful teams will get the opportunity to take their designs to the next level, with seed funding from the University to buy the materials you need to turn your concept to reality. You will then have four weeks to manufacture the products and sell them in a local market of your choice, either Cambridge or Chelmsford. Winners take all!
The theme will be announced at the weekend Bootcamp. Here’s a tip: think seasonal.
Absolutely nothing. We’re asking everyone to pay a £25 deposit which is refundable upon attendance throughout the course of the weekend. Please note, deposits will only be kept if you're absent without giving 48 hours’ notice.
We have sourced a number of market stalls in Cambridge (Saturday 2 December 2017) and Chelmsford (Saturday 9 December 2017). You will have to pitch for your stall preference on Sunday 29 October 2017.
The University will give a ‘loan’ to each participating team (amount to be confirmed on Sunday 29 October); you will make profit once you’ve broken even. You DO NOT have to spend the whole budget. For example, you could only spend £60 which means if you sell £300 worth of product, you will keep £240 profit.
