Our research has real social impact and is produced by experts who are committed to creating innovative and world-class research.
We don’t sit in ivory towers; our academic staff are driven by their passion for meaningful results that make a real difference to our society. Supported by Professor Simon Down, Deputy Dean, Research and Enterprise (pictured), we ensure our research is relevant to everyday life by working closely with small businesses, corporations, public sector and voluntary organisations and government departments. They depend on us to find solutions.
We’re proud of our results; some of our top researchers like economist Dr Nick Drydakis have hit international headlines with research that found ‘people who had sex four or more times a week earned more money’! In the latest 2014 government Research Excellence Framework (REF) exercise, which measures the performance of the research we produce every five years or so, over 50% of our most recent research was judged as either world-leading or internationally excellent.
All this research and expertise is made accessible to our students. Our courses and modules are taught by leading researchers who are experts in their fields, covering all aspects of business issues.
As an undergraduate or postgraduate student in our business school, you can expect to learn how to research, a skill in high demand by employers. We have a summer placement scheme where you can work alongside our academics to produce world-class research. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for further information.
If you’re interested in taking your research even further, we also have a vibrant doctoral community working closely with our academics to achieve their PhDs.
