Work experience
Our interns can take part in numerous opportunities to gain valuable work experience. The projects, opportunities and initiatives to work as partners expands year-on-year, enhancing the student experience within the Faculty.
Some examples of the work carried out by our 2016 cohort:
Academic assignments
- Opportunities to work as an academic intern
- Support research for our academic staff
- Assist staff to ensure our curriculum is inclusive for fellow students
Events and conferencing
- Learn how to plan and execute a successful event
- Help to plan and promote events and initiatives to build community within the Business School and wider university
Students as our partners
- Advise our deputy deans at the ‘Deputy Dean’s Advisory panel’ meetings (DDAP)
- Participate and inform the direction of the faculty at our Strategic Planning Conference
- Present to boards, conferences and fellow students
- Participate on staff recruitment interviews as a member of the student review panel
Learning and supportive community
- Plan, organise and manage an international peer support scheme for new arrivals called ‘iBuddy’
- Run information sessions about the Intern Programme
- Ambassador work to inspire future students
- Outreach opportunities in the local community
By working as student ambassador and engaging with people at events on campus, I became more confident to interact with people. This has helped me to secure a part-time job off-campus as Customer Service Assistant, which I could not be able to achieve without this Programme.
