If you're an early career researcher in the humanities and social sciences, you are invited to apply for a place at a collaboration workshop designed to bring you together with your counterparts from the USA.

The British Academy (BA) is working with the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, and the American Philosophical Society, to develop collaborations between the UK and US research bases, and it's really exciting to see an opportunity like this targeted at ECRs. The workshop will be structured around the BA's focus of Conflict, Stability & Security. The funders say:

"This workshop will look to explore how violence is defined and conceptualised by fostering an interdisciplinary discussion of some key themes related to our understanding of violence, and considering the implications for  research and policy engagement."

While it is hoped that progress will be made in understanding the central issues of the workshop, the main aim is to foster long-term partnerships and create transatlantic capacity in these areas. In this call, "early career" is considered to mean within seven years of being awarded a doctorate.

Application is by email to c.moorhouse@britac.ac.uk, and this is also the contact for more information about the call. For application requirements, please see the call documents.

Workshop dates: 10-11 February 2018 (Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA)

Deadline for applications: 5pm, Wednesday 6 December 2017.
