A unique opportunity has some across our desks this week, with the British Academy (BA) offering funds for academic writing training.
Up to £20,000 is available for the 'direct delivery of the workshops, and can cover travel and related expenses, subsistence costs, clerical assistance and consumables, networking, meeting and/or conference costs.'
The Academy has focused this scheme around the need to improve the publication ambitions and success rates of early career researchers in the Global South, and have determined that all proposals should be ODA-eligible. This means that the major impact of the workshops programme proposed should be felt in developing countries – it's not just to train UK-based researchers. To this end, 'Each application must have at least one co-applicant from an institution in the Global South.'
Through the workshops, attendees will experience professional networking and mentorship, as well as learning key writing skills for both research publications and funding bids.
If you are interested, please talk to the Research Funding Observatory team!
Deadline for applications: 14 February 2018, 5pm.
