Funder news: new British Academy grants system

From 1 August 2017, the British Academy will replace its current e-GAP system with a new grants management tool known as Flexi-Grant. This is a 'modern, user friendly platform with improved features for both applicants and administrators', so we look forward to the transition.

Various changes will be apparent to users of the system. BA especially highlight that the self-nominated referee protocol will change: 'referees must provide their references before an application can be submitted and approval given. The deadlines within each scheme for submission and approval will be extended to reflect this change.'

BA give a list of other important information, copied below.

  • Once applications are opened in Flexi-Grant, it will no longer be possible to apply to schemes via e-GAP2.
  • Applications currently being administered and assessed in e-GAP2 will continue as normal until a final decision has been made. Awards will then be migrated to Flexi-Grant.
  • Currently active user accounts in e-GAP2 will be migrated to Flexi-Grant. Currently active e-GAP2 Users will be able to access Flexi-Grant with their existing e-GAP2 details after the transition from 1 August 2017.
  • Currently active Awards will be migrated from e-GAP2 to Flexi-Grant from 1 August 2017.
