This year sees the seventh year of The Big Pitch: Anglia Ruskin University's answer to Dragons' Den. You need only be an ARU student to apply - you don't need any business experience, just a great idea.
The prize is a generous sum to help convert your idea into reality, with further prizes for social enterprise. A one-minute video upload is all it takes to qualify for the business planning workshop stage.
If you're interested, the competition opens 6 February and closes 13 March 2017. Two 'how to enter' sessions will be held:
Chelmsford: 7 February, 4.30-6pm, MAB124
Cambridge: 9 February, 4.30-6pm, LAB107
Should you be more interested in learning the skills of putting together a business without having a specific idea, you might consider entering a national competition, the Young Entrepreneurs' Scheme. Hosted by The University of Nottingham, this competition takes young researchers from all over the country, competing to be seen as the most exciting new start-up in their field. Having done this competition myself, I can tell you it's worth it!
