Sophia is a Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered Dramatherapist and a United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) registered Integrative Arts Psychotherapist. She has also worked in South Africa where she undertook therapeutic arts and performance projects with vulnerable communities affected by poverty and violence and was a performer in a therapeutic playback company
Sophia is interested in how human beings make sense of their experiences and make meaning through stories. She intends to further investigate the way in which telling and sharing stories can build attachments in relationships. She has also used traditional stories for many years in therapeutic work and has seen first-hand how stories can provide a vehicle through which to understand life events and emotional states. As a South African of Greek heritage Sophia is deeply concerned with issues related to Diversity and the impact of these on the therapeutic relationship.
