Anglia Ruskin Orchestra’s spring concert features Igor Stravinsky’s delightful Suites for Small Orchestra, together with Camille Saint-Saëns’ perennial favourite, The Carnival of the Animals, for small orchestra and two pianos. David Fanshawe’s magnificent Pacific Song, for chorus, percussion and electronic sounds, is based on the composer’s ten-year odyssey encountering the peoples and the music of the South Pacific. Jonathan Dove’s The Passing of the Year, for double chorus, two pianos and percussion, a setting of poems by William Blake, Emily Dickinson, George Peele, Thomas Nash, Tennyson, concludes the concert.
