A Balm in Gilead

Zion Baptist Church Cambridge, 1 East Road, Cambridge, CB1 1BD

Statues of protesters holding signs that read I am a man

On 15 January 2018, we will join a global commemoration of the assassination of Rev Dr Martin Luther King, Jr. We also salute the bravery and determination of the 1,300 men who walked off their job, with no union, by presenting the play A Balm in Gilead, conceived and directed by Sharon J Reives. Music will be provided by the London Adventist Chorale, under the superb direction of Ken Burton.

This is a faith story. The Memphis Sanitation Workers were supported by the local faith community. Each meeting began and ended with prayer, which also included great anthems of faith such as Ain’t Gon’ Let Nobody Turn Me ‘Round and Leaning on the Everlasting Arms, to name a few.

For more information, call the Zion Baptist Church office on 01223 576385. The pastor is Rev Gale Richards.
