Michelle teaches Land Law, Contract Law and Legal Method and Skills on our LLB (Hons) Law degree and puts these into practical application through her contribution to the postgraduate Legal Practice Course.
Michelle qualified as a solicitor in 1997 via the route offered by the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx). She worked at a City of London firm, specialising in insurance cargo recovery cases, policy disputes on behalf of insurers, and general litigation including property related litigation.
After qualification, Michelle obtained an LLM in European Law, before commencing a post teaching on the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at Anglia Ruskin University. She then taught on the LPC at City University, London (formerly the Inns of Court School of Law) from 2005 to 2008, before returning to Anglia Ruskin. Michelle has also been a tutor on a part-time basis to the Certificate in Land Registration, a qualification set up by joint venture between CILEx Tutorial College and HM Land Registry, training land registry staff. She is currently the chief examiner for CILEx's Resolving a Commercial Dispute in England & Wales level 4 module.
On our LPC, Michelle teaches Commercial Dispute Resolution. She also leads the Land Law module on the LLB, and contributes to Contract Law, and Legal Method and Skills teaching. She is the Course Leader of our LLM Legal Practice, designed for LPC students to top-up their qualification to a Masters degree. Michelle is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Her research interests are in land law and the resolution of land disputes.
