Principal Lecturer gives paper on same-sex relationships
In April 2014, Principal Lecturer in Law Andrew Gilbert gave a paper at the prestigious Political Studies Association conference in Manchester.
Andrew's paper drew on his doctoral research and was titled 'From 'pretended family relationship' to 'ultimate affirmation': British Conservatism and the Legal Recognition of Same-Sex Relationships.' It was presented in a stream that considered constitutionalism, rights and the law in British Conservatism.
Andrew commented: "This was a valuable opportunity to expose my work to a specialist audience outside the comfort zone of mainstream legal scholarship, and the paper was very well received".
