Briony sworn in aged 31
A graduate of Anglia Law School has become the youngest woman in the UK ever to be sworn in as a judge. Briony Clarke, 31, of Chelmsford law firm Taylor Haldane Barlex (THB), was sworn in as Deputy District Judge at Chelmsford Crown Court in March 2017.
Briony began her career at just 15, becoming an administrative assistant at THB, before completing both her LLB Law degree and Legal Practice Course with us. Graduating in 2009, she was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors soon afterwards. In 2012, Briony returned to complete our LLM top-up course. By the time she graduated in 2014, she had worked her way through the ranks to become a partner at the firm.
She now intends to continue her practice with THB and sit part-time as a Deputy District Judge.
