Our research students belong to a thriving student community. They work on groundbreaking research projects, they present at research conferences and they publish papers in international journals.
We have a number of exciting research project opportunities that you may want to consider. These are self-funded research proposals with a clear focus that have already been identified by our staff.
If you already have a research proposal in mind, we strongly recommend you contact a potential supervisor before submitting an application. Please explore our staff pages for details of their research topics. All staff can be contacted by email and you are advised to discuss your proposed topic with your potential supervisor before applying. Once the topic is agreed, you can begin our formal application process. You should name your prospective supervisor on your application form. All applications will be considered and, for those proposals that we have the expertise to supervise, applicants will be invited to an interview. Applications for part-time and distance study are also considered.
International applicants should take time to explore our guide to studying in the UK.

From time-to-time we offer funded research studentships. These are advertised on our jobs website as they become available.
