After many years using a home-grown virtual learning environment (VLE) the decision was taken in 2015/16 to move to a new learning management system (LMS).
We’re rolling out our staff development and support programme in preparation for moving to Canvas, our new LMS, this September.
We’re currently running the below workshops designed to help you get started with Canvas. Links to the related self-directed courses will be available soon.
Canvas4Learning (3 hours) – this session explores how our LMS and other technologies can enhance learning activities before, during and after timetabled classes.
How to build a module in Canvas (3 hours) – this workshop introduces the basics of getting started with Canvas.
Explore Canvas (1 hour) – these drop-in sessions focus on key functionalities and questions you may have.
Advanced Canvas – these workshops delve into more specialist Canvas functionalities, including:
Professional services staff supporting students on Canvas (Canvas student support) (2 hours) – this workshop is for staff who need to support students using Canvas. The workshop will cover an introduction to Canvas from a student perspective.
Copyright and the LMS – this online course will inform you of the issues surrounding copyright and the LMS with advice on how to get the most from current copyright laws in the UK HE context, offer advice on how to avoid copyright infringement, provide tools and information that will help you find copyright free objects, and useful places for information and advice.
