Recognising achievement with criterion-referenced, grade-based assessment

7 March 2018, 16:30 - 18:00
Cambridge campus

Part of the Talking about Teaching seminars.

Dr Sebastian Rasinger of Faculty of Arts, Law & Social Sciences will discuss his experience with using a mixture of criteria-based marking and letter-based grading in the Department of English and Media. Based on analysis developed through a Learning and Teaching Project in 2016/17, Sebastian will look at how the use of clear marking criteria attached to letter-based grade bands can be used to clearly differentiate between student work at the top end of the grade spectrum – and avoid the quasi-capping of marks.

You can also join remotely by accessing the session on Adobe Connect. You may have to update your Flash drive. An Adobe Connect app works very well on mobile devices and the appropriate version can be downloaded from the additional downloads section.
