The 2017–18 academic year marked our 25th as a university and we celebrated this landmark with our students, staff, friends and supporters.
Over the past quarter of a century ARU has made a substantial contribution to the economic, social and cultural wellbeing of our region and beyond. And this past year has been our strongest ever in terms of our research portfolio, with growth in grant revenue, publications and impact.
The Teaching Excellence Framework gave us a Silver rating for the quality of our education; and the National Student Survey 2018 results showed our students rating their educational experience highly – with ARU exceeding the sector average for overall satisfaction.
We continued to make major investments in our campus infrastructure, with the School of Medicine building opening in Chelmsford, and our new Science Centre in Cambridge. Both will make an enormous difference to our health and medicine & science and technology capabilities.
On 16 June 2017, 25 years to the day from when we were granted university status we launched our new strategy, Designing our Future 2017–26. It determines the direction we’ll take in the years to come through education, community engagement, research and innovation.
