Help with the cost of uni

Choosing books Untitled Page

We're committed to supporting new students who are keen to succeed in their studies. To do this, we've designed a range of scholarships with the help of our current students. We offer most first-year students up to £400 support to help with study-related costs.

These are our scholarships for UK and EU students starting in September 2015 or January 2016.

Books Plus: get £400 per year

Books Plus is a scheme to help all our students with study-related costs, such as textbooks and equipment including stationery, art supplies and digital equipment. For more information on this, please visit our Books Plus page.

Access Bursary

If your household income is £25,000 or less you’ll be eligible for a £400 cash bursary to help support your studies. You’re not expected to pay this money back. You’ll receive the funds in two instalments in early December and early February during each year of full-time study. If you’re a part-time student these funds will be paid pro-rata.

ARU Sports Scholarship

We take great pride in the fact that some of the most talented sports men and women in the country choose to study with us. We also understand how difficult it can be to balance the demands of competing at the highest level with a full academic life when you first arrive at university.

We offer students competing at regional, national or international level, the opportunity to apply for a scholarship award worth up to £1,000 a year for three years. Each award is tailored towards the needs of the athlete, and is delivered as a package of support that’ll add value to existing training programmes to help achieve both academic and sporting success.

Discounts on bikes and cycling gear

Plenty of students and staff cycle to our campuses in Chelmsford, Peterborough and Cambridge (the unofficial cycling capital of the UK).

If you want to buy a bike to get around, we've secured some great discounts at local cycle stores – simply show your Anglia Ruskin student card. Details are on our Environment Team's web pages.
