If you’re studying nursing, midwifery or operating department practice with us, and your course includes a placement in Essex, you can apply to live in hospital accommodation in Basildon, Chelmsford, Colchester, Harlow or Southend.

You’ll be offered accommodation for one academic year. Normally, accommodation is offered to first year students and priority is given to those whose home is more than five miles away from their study site.
In Basildon, accommodation is single rooms with shared kitchen and bathroom facilities. There are 211 units of accommodation altogether. It costs £101 per week (includes gas, electricity, council tax, water, internet and bed linen). If you’re staying for more than three months, you’ll need to pay a deposit of one month’s rent.
Chelmsford offers single rooms in three-bed, fully furnished houses. Each house has two toilets, a bathroom, lounge and kitchen (washing machine not included). Rent is £449.28 per month (includes gas, electricity, water and council tax). There are 353 units of accommodation altogether. You’ll need to pay a deposit of one month’s rent.

On Cherry Tree Lane and Chesnut Lane there are purpose-built, four-bedroom houses. Each house has a shared shower room, bath and toilet; downstairs toilet; shared kitchen (with cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, tumble dryer, microwave) and furnished sitting area with a small TV. Rent is £470.93 per month.
On Walnut Grove there are four-bedroom flats. All bedrooms are en-suite. Each flat has a shared kitchen (with cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, tumble dryer, microwave) and a furnished sitting area with a small TV. Rent is £495.66 per month.
Your rent includes gas, electricity, water and a communal TV licence. You’ll need to pay the first month’s rent to get your keys.
In Southend, accommodation is single en-suite rooms and a large kitchen that you’ll share with seven others. Rent is £396.21 per month (includes room internet, electricity, water and council tax). You won’t need to pay a deposit. There are 134 units of accommodation.
