Moving into accommodation

Front door Untitled Page

Congratulations on receiving a place to study at Anglia Ruskin and an offer to live in student accommodation at:

  • Student Village in Chelmsford
  • Anastasia House
  • CB1
  • The Forum
  • Peter Taylor House
  • The Railyard
  • Sedley Court
  • Swinhoe Hall
  • YMCA
  • university shared houses.

You’ll be able to collect your keys and move in from the start date given on your offer of accommodation letter. This is also the start date of your occupancy agreement with us.

If you’re going to be living in CB1 or The Railyard, the managing agents will contact you directly about start dates.

Before you arrive

Before you move into your new home, please make sure that you’ve:

  • paid your first instalment of rent
  • set up recurring web payments and printed out your confirmation as proof that you’ve done this (if you’re living in Sedley Court, The Forum or the YMCA, you don’t need to set up recurring payments)
  • completed our online induction to student accommodation.

With some of our houses, you can set up internet access in advance so you’re online from the moment you arrive. Register for internet access at Anastasia House, Peter Taylor House, Swinhoe Hall, Collier Road (university shared houses) and our Student Village in Chelmsford.

Wondering what you’ll need to bring with you? Check our page What’s in the room and what to bring for more information.

When to arrive

We ask all our students to complete an online induction before moving in to university accommodation. When you do this, please tell us the date and time (approximately) you’ll be arriving. We’ll then have your keys ready for you to collect on the day

You’ll need log-in details to complete our online induction. If you haven’t received these, or you’re having any trouble booking your arrival date, please contact us.

Arriving early

Your room is available from the start date given in your offer of accommodation letter. If you’re arriving before this date, you’ll need to arrange a place to stay. Our bed and breakfast, hotel and apartment listings for Cambridge and Chelmsford have details of places to stay - or you can search online for other options in Cambridge and Chelmsford

Where to collect keys

Once you’ve completed your online induction, we’ll let you know where to collect your keys.

When you come to collect the keys, please bring:

  • a form of personal identification such as a passport or driving licence
  • confirmation that you’ve set up recurring web payments (if applicable).

We can’t issue keys unless you have these two things.

Arriving by car?

There’s free car parking for up to one hour in designated areas – details will be in your online induction. After this time, you can use public car parks nearby in Cambridge and Chelmsford.

Our campus pages have more information about travelling to Cambridge and travelling to Chelmsford, along with campus maps.

International students

We organise an Orientation Programme for international students coming to Anglia Ruskin for the first time. It includes campus and city tours, and useful information about living in the UK.

Don't forget to check our What you need to know web pages before travelling. You can also contact us if you have any questions.

Have a safe journey; we look forward to meeting you.
