Have you ever thought you might like to try something different? Wondered what it might be like but weren’t sure? Now’s your chance to give it a try!
The Outdoor Activities programme runs throughout the year and there’s something happening most weeks. The activities are designed so that anyone can have a go. Please see our timetable of activities at the bottom of the page.
The activities cost just £5 per session. This includes all the necessary equipment, and transport from campus to the venue and back. All the activities are run by fully qualified professional instructors, who make sure everyone has a fun and exhilarating experience. You don’t need any previous experience and the sessions cater for a wide range of fitness and abilities. However, please read the essential information at the bottom of this page. This gives details of any specific requirements, and advice on what you should wear or bring for each activity.

Booking a Session
You can join in whenever you want. There’s no need to commit to more than one session, and you can take part in as many of the activities as you want. There’s no membership and no need to sign up, but it is essential to book a place.
You can book at either Mildmay Sports Centre or Helmore Gym, or online here. (Please note if you'd like to book Mountain Biking 09.11.16 in Chelmsford you can only book at Mildmay Sports Centre). The essential information in the link above has more information about booking and cancellations.
If you already have some involvement or experience of an Outdoor Activity you will still get a lot from the sessions as the instructors are good at finding a suitable challenge. We’re keen to support ongoing training and development, so please get in touch to discuss your interests. We have good links with clubs, facilities and instructors. If you have any instructor qualifications, or an interest in setting up a club, we’d also like to hear from you.
To keep up to date with what’s going on you can now join the Outdoor Activities Facebook Group.
You’ll be able to share your experiences, photos and videos, see what others are doing and possibly make new friends.
