Would you like to get more involved with sport at Anglia Ruskin? We have lots of opportunities available if you want to gain experience, learn new skills and have a positive impact on sport at our university.

Coach Academy

In the 2016/17 academic year Sport & Active Anglia will offer up to eight coaching apprenticeships to students at ARU. Each apprentice will fulfil the role of an Assistant Coach within one of our sports clubs and play a key role supporting the success of our sports teams. You will need to commit to delivering a weekly training session during term-time throughout semester 1 and 2 (up to and including w/b 20 March 2017) and in return you will receive a package of support. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain new qualifications and develop valuable skills, which are sought by future employers. You can download more information about the Coach Academy here

Sport Activators

Our Campus Sport programme is run by a team of Sport Activators each year. These students help to coordinate various sports sessions, such as Badminton, Volleyball, Running Groups and Basketball. Sport Activators also assist with promotion of sport around the University and will all undertake a sports leader qualification. Applications are now open for more information please read the Chelmsford Sport Activator Role and the Cambridge Sport Activator Role.

Sport Activators 

Sports Club committee members

All of our sports clubs are run by student committees. If you are interested in become a sports committee member, please speak to your club President who can give you more information. Committee members are elected annually at the club AGMs, usually in April, and positions include President, Captain, Kit and Equipment Officer and Communications Officer.

Outdoor Activities Activators

Interested in outdoor activities, such as climbing, canoeing and horse riding? We employ Outdoor Activities Activators on each campus to facilitate these activities each year. It's a great opportunity to meet new people, gain leadership skills and try out new activities.

Recreation Assistants

Helmore Gym and Mildmay Sports Centre employ students each year to help our facilities run smoothly. These students work on reception and in the gyms to ensure all customers have a positive experience and get the most out of our facilities.

Sport volunteering

The Students' Union run a comprehensive sport volunteering programme for Anglia Ruskin students involving coaching, event management and sports marketing. Sports Volunteering is a fantastic way to get involved in your local community by promoting the values of healthy living, fitness and social inclusion. You can not only help develop people's sporting skills but also skills they can use to advance any area of their life.
