We hold a number of workshops across the year. These are free and open to all current Faculty of Science and Technology postgraduate research students. If you'd like to book a place on one of our workshops, simply email fst-research@anglia.ac.uk.

Welcome and Writing the research proposal

Suitable for: new postgraduate research students/supervisors.

Content: a short session offering guidance on what's required, when and why in the research proposal (including ProgressPlatform and the panel meeting). It will help you to produce a 'living document' to support your progression in the early stages of your research studies.

Preparing for the Annual Monitoring Review (AMR)

Suitable for: postgraduate research students, supervisors and convenors.

Content: an introduction to the postgraduate research Annual Monitoring Review (AMR) process at Anglia Ruskin University. Why is AMR required? How can it help you on your journey? How is it used as feedback to help the student experience?

The Researcher Development Framework (RDF), Skills Diagnostic and Personal Development Portfolio

Ideal for: postgraduate research candidates and academic staff.

Content: this session will answer questions such as: Why is the RDF important for me and my career? How should I use the Skills Diagnostic and PDP to support my career development?

Preparing for Confirmation of Candidature - FST perspectives

Ideal for: postgraduate research candidates and supervisors.

Content: this workshop discusses the significance of Confirmation of Candidature (CoC) on the postgraduate research student journey. It will also cover what is required for submission, and how to demonstrate progression from QAA Level 7 (Masters) towards Level 8 (doctoral) standards. We'll outline the approvals process, too.

Confirmation of Candidature: assessor training

Ideal for: current and prospective CoC assessors.

Content: this workshop will discuss Level 7 and Level 8 criteria may be exemplified in our Faculty's disciplines, and the nature of the constructive, critical and supportive feedback needed to help students and teams through the final stages of their postgraduate research journey.

The 'write' way workshops: developing your academic writing

Ideal for: postgraduate research candidates.

Content: a series of short, active workshops covering different aspects of the writing process including: writing for different audiences; how to be constructively critical; conveying originality – avoiding plagarism; dealing with writers block; planning your writing; editing tips.
