Many thanks to everyone who attended our Faculty of Science & Technology's second annual Research and Scholarship Conference, held at the Postgraduate Medical Institute in Chelmsford in May 2012.

The conference explored the following areas:

  • sustainable health, wellbeing and lifestyle
  • sustainable science and technology
  • sustainability scholarship.

The plenary session was delivered by Mark Edwards, the driving force behind the Hard Rain Project, which addresses the challenges of climate change, poverty eradication, environmental protection and sustainable consumption and production. Faculty staff and students also presented papers and posters, took the chance to write a grant proposal, explored research ethics, and identified opportunities for cross-faculty research.

This year we also introduced an informal, one-hour 'Bring your own slides' session, where staff and students gave short presentations detailing their research or scholarly activities.
