Alongside lecturing, Rupal is also a practising optometrist. In 2014 she was named Lecturer of the Year by the Association of Optometrists in recognition of her outstanding contribution to teaching.

Rupal leads our Optometry and Ophthalmic Dispensing courses. After graduating from the University of Bradford and undertaking registration as an optometrist, Rupal returned to academia at Bradford to pursue a PhD while also supervising student clinics. After completing the data collection aspect of her research, Rupal moved to Cambridge to join us.

Alongside her teaching and management roles in our Department, Rupal is a College of Optometrists Examiner for the Final Assessment of the Scheme for Registration (OSCE). She's also a Principal Fellow for the Higher Education Academy and a member of the Careers in Optics working group, as well as European Academy of Optometry and Optics Clinical Practice Working Group. She is a University Teaching Fellow.

Teaching

Module leader for Clinical Optometry 1 and Pharmacology & Pathology, Lead Clinician for the Visual Stress Clinic, Module Tutor for Clinical Optometry 5, Undergraduate Major Project and Vocational & Recreational Dispensing.
