Holly gained her bachelor's degree in optometry from the University of Bradford in 2001, before completing her pre-registration training as an optometrist and working for several years for Boots Opticians.

Holly's PhD investigated the effect of age and accommodation on myopia progression in 14-21 year olds as part of the Cambridge Anti Myopia Study. She completed her PhD in 2010 and started a postdoctoral fellowship at our Vision and Eye Research Unit (VERU), on a systematic review of literature on blindness and visual impairment for the Vision Loss Expert Group of the Global Burden of Disease study.

Holly is currently undertaking lab-based research in VERU in the field of myopia development.
