Katrina is our university's judo coach. She emphasises the importance of application to her teaching in the field of sports coaching and is currently leading modules with this emphasis.

Katrina teaches the modules Sports Development, Planning in Sport, Research Methods, Developing Academic Skills, Coaching and Behaviour, Effective and Ethical Coaching, Applied Coaching, and Long Term Athlete Development. She also coaches our university judo team and is helping to develop the judo opportunities available.

Research interests

Katrina's research interests are focused in and around the coaching domain. Her real passion is in athlete education and she works closely with the Judo Research Group and Sports and Exercise Science Research Group.

Katrina works closely with national governing bodies, most recently with the British Judo Association. She also has a detailed knowledge surrounding the Advanced Apprenticeship in Sporting Excellence (AASE) programme and links this with her research on athlete education.
