About us

Students in a lesson Untitled Page

From animal behaviour and zoology to marine biology, we’ll help you develop practical skills and knowledge and encourage your passion for wildlife and the environment.

All our courses have overall student satisfaction rates well above the national average*. You’ll find our practical courses give you plenty of chances to take part in local, national and international field trips and fieldwork.

We're located on our Cambridge campus, as well as the Milton campus of the College of West Anglia.

All of our undergraduate Cambridge campus-based courses are recognised by the Society of Biology. We develop our courses to prepare you for the workplace of today and tomorrow. All our full-time undergraduate courses offer optional placement opportunities.

First-class staff

Our team of academic, technical and support staff take pride in delivering an up-to-date and exciting curriculum, while offering a friendly atmosphere in which you can thrive.

Out in the field

Gain hands-on experience while you study. Through our residential and local field trips you’ll develop an understanding of habitat conservation, build identification skills, and gain valuable employment skills. You might experience rutting red deer on the island of Rum; marine biology in Scotland; world-class zoos in the Netherlands; wildlife and ecology in Africa; and diving and marine biology in the Red Sea.

With our four research groups, everyone in our department stays up to date with the latest industry thinking and findings.
