Christian is a Senior Lecturer in Construction Project Management. Between 1997-2005, he worked as a civil engineer with leading contractors and a local authority in Tanzania.

Background

Before joining Anglia Ruskin, Christian worked as Research Fellow at the Faculty of Environment and Technology at the University of the West of England. He has a PhD and an MSc in Project Management from the University of the West of England. He also holds a BSc from University of Dar Es Salaam.

Research interests

Christian's research interests include public-private partnerships and private finance initiatives (PFIs), risk and uncertainty management, sustainable construction, value management and value for money in infrastructure projects (modeling, testing and sustainable economics), ethics in the built environment, and teaching and learning in the built environment.

As well as researching and publishing extensively on issues relating to project management and public-private-partnerships, Christian is an active reviewer for several leading journals in the field, including ASCE's Journal of Management in Engineering, APM/IPMA's International Journal of Project Management and Construction Management and Economics. He'a also the winner of an outstanding paper award with Emerald Literati for 2013.

Areas of research supervision

  • Construction and project management: project change management; project cost and time control; stakeholders’ management and value for money of PFI projects and supply chain management in nuclear industry
  • Sustainable construction: sustainable construction policy and practice and Sustainable procurement
  • Teaching and learning in the built environment: review of publications in the pedagogical journals.
  • Health and safety in construction: accident reporting and the RIDDOR process, use of IT and BIM in prevention of accident occurrence

Teaching

Christian has taught at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the following areas: project management; project management techniques; risk and value management; construction and commercial management; project planning and control; project evaluation and development; work-based and work-related learning in built environment; civil engineering contract administration.
