Carlos is Deputy Director for our Professional Doctorate in Science & Technology and a Course Leader with teaching and research responsibilities at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Background

Carlos's background is in engineering, in areas such as industrial, bioengineering and building services engineering. He is a Chartered Engineer and member of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (MCIBSE) and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (MIET).

Carlos is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) teaching modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Here at Anglia Ruskin, he is a research supervisor at undergraduate, Masters and doctoral level and a member of our Departmental Research Ethics Panel (DREP).

  • BREEAM Communities and Healthcare, Code for Sustainable Homes and environmental performance
  • Renewable energies, including solar energy, wind energy, hydropower, geothermal (heat pumps) and bioenergy
  • Simulation of energy systems and sustainable power generation (power plants)
  • Sustainability of construction materials
  • Virtual technologies and computer visualization techniques for teaching and training. Autocad Architecture, 3D Max, Google Sketchup, Adobe Photoshop, Vizard, Python programming and Second Life
  • Computer visualization techniques in architecture and heritage buildings
  • Skills for sustainable communities
  • Implicit and explicit finite element analysis for structural and thermal analysis
  • Fatigue, damage accumulation, contact and fracture mechanics and mechanical testing
