Our Faculty of Health, Social Care & Education is focused on delivering excellence in health and social care education, training and research at Cambridge, Chelmsford and Peterborough.

The Faculty is the largest provider of health, social care and education courses throughout the East of England. The Faculty offers a comprehensive range of locally, nationally and internationally recognised courses, across a wide variety of disciplines from nursing to social work and midwifery to education studies. These are delivered by teams of experienced academic staff who all have relevant teaching and professional experience. Students can benefit from the use of our state-of-the-art simulated clinical skills laboratories and teaching facilities across all our campuses; Chelmsford, Fulbourn, Cambridge and Peterborough.

The Faculty has well established teacher training courses. These courses have been diversified in recent years and we now offer an extensive portfolio from our Chelmsford campus and a growing provision from Guild House, Peterborough, which lead directly to Qualified Teacher Status, for primary, secondary and the post compulsory sector. Our fastest growing provision, however, is in courses for Early Years professionals and in professional development for educators.

Lord Ashcroft International Business School

Ashcroft Building, Chelmsford campus
Our Lord Ashcroft International Business School is developing a different and innovative approach to management education. Our mission focuses upon courses and research that contributes to the development of intelligent management practitioners. This emphasis upon practice based management education is rooted in the realities of organisations - where managers face a context of complex, messy and paradoxical problems. However, it is also this context that offers opportunities for managers to be innovative and create competitive advantage for their organisations.

Lord Ashcroft International Business School is organised around two multidisciplinary departments: one in Cambridge and the other in Chelmsford. Both departments offer the full spectrum of undergraduate, postgraduate and professional courses in a range of subject specialisms. Our departments also work with companies offering bespoke courses and undertaking company sponsored research. These companies include Barclays, UPS, Harrods, Crawford, Basildon Hospital and the Fire and Rescue Service.

Lord Ashcroft International Business School lives up to its name in terms of its international profile. With over 6500 students studying on the School's courses, nearly 4000 of these are on courses offered with overseas partners. Our market positioning as a Business School is about blend and perspective. We recognise that theory is important but also that knowledge relating to practice (what we call practice intelligence) is what makes a difference and gives our students the confidence they need in shaping futures and their careers. This means our students are taught by both academics and management practitioners and this feature is designed into their courses. We also have courses where all the studying takes place in the workplace. We are putting into practice the much overused statement by many business schools of making their courses relevant to the real world!
