About Harlow

Welcome to Harlow

Harlow is situated on the border between Essex and Hertfordshire, between London and Cambridge. From the humble village origins of Old Harlow, as mentioned in the Domesday Book, Harlow town has been designed as an attractive environment featuring water gardens, park and landscaped areas.

Key attractions

Arts and Culture

Providing art for the public has led to Harlow having an impressive collection of over 100 sculptures by a variety of artists including Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth and Auguste Rodin. Many are located in the open air, accessible to all. Take in live music, comedy and cabaret at The Square, or theatrical and musical productions at the Playhouse. Harlow also has an art gallery - the Gibberd Gallery - located in the Civic Centre. See the Visit Harlow website for more information.

Shopping
The redeveloped Water Gardens provide a retail and leisure district in the town centre. The light and modern Harvey Centre is a major shopping mall with almost a million square feet of retail space, featuring a mix of essential high street brands and unique independent stores.

Sports and leisure
This £25m development provides world-class sporting and leisure facilities for all. Features include a swimming pool, sports hall, indoor tennis hall, gym, fitness studios, squash courts, health spa, daycare nursery, lounge bar/restaurant and café. Harlow Leisurezone has been identified as a possible training facility for athletes in the run up to the 2012 Olympics. Harlow is home to Harlow Town FC and Harlow Rugby Football Club.
