Looking through the contents of this year's Annual Review I hope that you, like me, will be impressed by how much progress we have made in recent years.

I hope you will agree that the range of our work is impressive; embracing a broad agenda from surgery to student facilities, from degrees in the workplace to a commitment to environmental responsibility, while at the same time working hard to ensure that everything we do is done to the highest possible standards.

Indeed my guess is that, if you have not taken a careful look at us in recent years, you would find us unrecognisable today - such has been the progress made.

This is testimony to the energy, drive and determination of our staff and their incredible and extraordinary commitment to making us something special.
