Chinese
Chinese joined our repertoire of languages in 2005 and has been extremely well-received with a high success rate.
Chinese Foundation 1 and 2 run, subject to enrolments, at the Cambridge campus only. Each module runs for twelve weeks in each Semester (Semester 1: end September to mid December, Semester 2: end January/beginning February to mid/end May)
Chinese may be taken by students enrolled on Anglia Ruskin University degree courses, Anglia Ruskin staff and members of the public (referred to as Link Students).
Chinese Foundation 1 is an introductory language module for students who need an introduction to Mandarin Chinese at absolute beginner level. It focuses on all four language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) in an integrated approach, introduces key structures and vocabulary relevant to topics studied, and provides initial insights into Chinese society and culture. It combines a communicative approach to language with the development of basic reading and writing skills. Students are expected to undertake a programme of guided independent learning in support of class sessions. Chinese Foundation 2 is the continuation module.
