5 steps to student support for prospective students

Step 1:
Notify Anglia Ruskin of your disability

If you've any additional support needs and have indicated these on your application form, we'll contact you during the application process. This will ensure that your needs are properly considered, and that you've details of the facilities we offer.

Step 2:
Apply for Disabled Students' Allowance (DSAs)

If you're eligible, it is advisable to apply for the Disabled Students' Allowance (DSAs) as early as possible. DSA provides extra financial help if you want to study a higher education course and have a disability, ongoing health condition, mental health condition or specific learning difficulty like dyslexia.

Step 3:
Attend appointment at assessment centre

If you're eligible for a DSA, you'll be asked to attend a needs assessment at an assessment centre. The centre will write a report setting out all the help they think you need and will send this to your funding body. The assessment centre will also send a copy to you and the relevant Study Support Adviser.

The University has its own Assessment Centre where assessments take place.

Step 4:
Purchase equipment and arrange support

Your funding body will consider the report and write to tell you how to proceed. Please then contact the relevant Study Support Adviser at Anglia Ruskin to arrange your support.

Step 5:
Arrange to see the appropriate adviser based on your disability

Upon receipt of your confirmation letter from your funding body, please make contact with your Study Support Adviser to arrange support. They can also help you to arrange delivery of any equipment.
