National Scholarship Programme (NSP) and Fee Waivers FAQs 2012-13
They are for new undergraduate students starting their first degree course after September 2012, who meet the eligibility criteria.
The NSP and Fee Waiver schemes are not available to students from outside the EU. The NSP is for English students only (on courses funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England) while the Fee Waivers are available to UK and EU students.
When the Government passed legislation allowing Universities to charge up to £9,000 to all new full time students starting their studies in 2012/3 and later they required Universities to provide financial support to students. Each University will have its own, unique package of help. The NSP (National Scholarship Programme) and Anglia Ruskin Fee Waivers are means tested and are aimed at students from lower income households.
If you are a full-time student, or a part-time student who is studying at least 25% of the course per year, on one of the following awards you will be eligible for consideration for our NSP and Anglia Ruskin Fee Waivers:
- Bachelors Degree with Honours
- Foundation Degree
- Diploma of Higher Education (Dip HE)
- Higher National Diploma (HND)
- PGCE (Anglia Ruskin Fee Waiver only)
The NSP and Anglia Ruskin Fee Waivers are not applicable to courses funded via the NHS. This means that you pay no tuition fees to Anglia Ruskin and therefore cannot receive them.
NSP and Anglia Ruskin Fee Waivers are only applicable to students paying their own fees or receiving a Tuition Fee Loan from Student Finance.
The government has set the number of NSPs which we can allocate to students. The NSPs are allocated in order of application.

UK students - You should apply to Student Finance England for means-tested student support and give consent for household income data to be shared with us. We will receive information about your family's income and will automatically assess your eligibility for one of our fee waivers. We will only receive this information if you have given Anglia Ruskin or one of our Associate Colleges as your institution on your Student Finance Application. Our Associate Colleges are Harlow College, SEEVIC, University College Peterborough, University College West Anglia, Huntingdonshire Regional College and Cambridge Theological Federation.
EU students - Student Finance England will send you a form requesting financial information to enable them to assess your household income. They will then send that information on to us. If you believe your household income makes you eligible for either of the Anglia Ruskin Fee Waivers (i.e. your household income is less than £35,000 per year or equivalent) you should complete the forms and send them back to Student Finance England.
You will be sent an email informing you of this.
Once you are a registered student you will be able to see your award on your Anglia Ruskin web account (called e:Vision). It will show on the 'My Registration' page.
We will monitor the household income information received from Student Finance England throughout the academic year from September 2013 until 1 June of the following year. If you receive a late assessment after that date, which makes you eligible for the Anglia Ruskin Fee Waiver you should contact a member of our Student Services Money Advice Team who, if they agree that you are eligible, will request a back dated Anglia Ruskin Fee Waiver on your behalf.
You can only be awarded either the NSP or an Anglia Ruskin Fee Waiver not both.
Your award will be based on your household income in the first year of your course, it will not be re checked each year.
We deduct the awarded amount (based on your continuing attendance) when you return to your studies in your 2nd Semester (in each academic year).
We will inform Student Finance of your reduced Tuition Fee Liability towards the end of your second semester (in each academic year).
