Anglia Ruskin's National Scholarship Programme (NSP)

The NSP is a government initiative launched in 2012, Anglia Ruskin participates in the scheme.

If your household income is £25,000 or less you are eligible to apply for the NSP.

Anglia Ruskin is able to offer 317 NSPs to full-rime students who begin their studies in 2013. Each is worth a total of £6,800 in the form of fee waivers over 3 years:

• £3,000 in year 1
• £1,900 in years 2 and 3

There are also 34 NSPs available to part-time students who are paying their own tuition fees or taking out a tuition fee loan from Student Finance England. The NSP will be deducted on a pro rata basis i.e. if you are studying at 50% of a full time load, 50% of the annual fee waiver will be applied in each year of study.

If you receive an NSP award you will not be eligible for the Anglia Ruskin fee waiver.

You can apply for an NSP if:

• you have applied for a full-time undergraduate course
• you have applied for a part-time undergraduate course and will be studying at least 25% of the course per year
• you are starting University for the first time in the academic year 2013/14
• you are either normally resident in England or are an EU citizen from outside the UK (if your home is in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland you are not eligible for the NSP)
• your household income is below £25,000 per year
• you intend to select Anglia Ruskin as your firm choice

The following criteria will be used to prioritise applications:

• you are from a neighbourhood with low progression into Higher Education (based on Higher Education Funding Council for England data for participation in Higher Education by geographical area)
• depending on the level of applications we may also take into consideration predicted grades based on school attainment data

If you fall into one of the following categories you will not be eligible for the NSP:

• NHS funded students
• Part-time students studying less than 25%.of the course per year
• Students continuing directly from one course to another in 2013 (eg from foundation degree or HND to final year of an honours degree)
• Students transferring to Anglia Ruskin from another institution
• Postgraduate students
• Any other students whose fees are paid or part-paid through a sponsorship arrangement
• Students applying via Degrees at Work
• Students whose homes are in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland

Some important things to note:

• If you are a full-time applicant you must apply through UCAS before applying for an NSP as you will need your UCAS personal id.
• Part-time applicants should apply using our online application form
• Part-time applicants studying over 25% of the course per year if eligible will be awarded an NSP on a pro rata basis
• If your application for an NSP is unsuccessful you will automatically be considered for the Anglia Ruskin fee waiver scheme (further details below)
• A National Scholarship Programme (NSP) award cannot be combined with an Anglia Ruskin fee waiver
• If you are applying for a full-time course you should submit your application to Student Finance England as soon as possible, we will only be able to check that you meet the household income criteria for any of our fee waivers when your student finance application has been approved by Student Finance England
• If you are applying for a part-time course you will be informed of the arrangements for verifying your household income after your application has been processed.

Anglia Ruskin Fee Waivers

You will be eligible for our Fee Waiver as long as your residual household income is assessed as less than £25,000 per year (or between £25,000 and £35,000 for our standard fee waiver). As long as you have applied to Student Finance England for means-tested student support and given consent for household income data to be shared with us, we will receive information about your family's income and will automatically assess your eligibility for one of our fee waivers. We will only receive this information if you have given Anglia Ruskin or one of our Regional Partners as your institution on your Student Finance Application.

• If you are eligible the appropriate fee waiver will be allocated to you once you commence your course. The fee waiver amount will be deducted from your tuition fees for a maximum of 3 years
• If you are a part-time applicant studying over 25% of the course per year, if eligible, you will be awarded a fee waiver on a pro-rata basis
