In Chelmsford, Anglia Ruskin Students' Union have a diverse range of student-led societies and sports clubs, all of which meet regularly, and combined, provide social, educational and sporting opportunities.

Societies exist for students with similar interests, hobbies or faiths and range from the African-Caribbean Society to the Raising and Giving Society.

Whilst the emphasis for many of the students who join our sports clubs is to play and meet new people, many of our teams compete on a regular basis in various competitions at both a local and national level, including:

• the Anglia Ruskin Phantoms American football team who play in top division of the the British Universities American Football League
• the Rebels rugby team who compete in the Premier Division of the SESSA League
• the Anglia Ruskin Chelmsford Football team who compete in the Premier Division of the SESSA League, and the seconds who play in Division Two
• the Anglia Ruskin Netball team who compete in Division A of the SESSA League
• the Anglia Ruskin Sirens who compete in national cheerleading competitions
• and Anglia Ruskin Jitsu who are graded regularly along with competing at a national level.

We actively encourage students to establish their own society or sports club if there is not one that meets their needs or interests already, and with our financial and practical support we hope to help them grow and develop.
