RAE 2008

The 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) results show research at Anglia Ruskin University is increasing in strength and scope. Reflecting this improvement, Anglia Ruskin has moved within the Times Higher Education tables from 121st to 86th position. Anglia Ruskin came out top of the 'new' universities for Psychology, second for English Language and Literature (including contributions from Communication, Film and Media) and third for History.

More than half of the work in all nine of Anglia Ruskin's submissions was recognised as of international quality, with eight submissions having a proportion of their work rated as 'world-leading'.
Vice Chancellor Professor Michael Thorne said:

"I am delighted that the excellence of the work in the areas where we have prioritised research has been recognised in this way. Those colleagues involved will be justly proud that we do so much work of an international standard - not to mention an encouraging proportion of world-leading research.

"For me, this confirms the content of our newly agreed Research and Scholarship strategy. It amplifies the unambiguous commitment to research and scholarship now enshrined in our Vision and describes a set of actions and investments, totalling some £4.5 million."

Anglia Ruskin University achieved similar rankings in the Guardian and Research Fortnightly.
