Sustainability
PhD
The Global Sustainability Institute (GSI) is a high profile research institute within Anglia Ruskin, and has grown rapidly since its formation in early 2011. We are a dynamic group of researchers involved in an extremely wide variety of research projects, collaborating with numerous external partners (for example, the Cabinet Office, 'Limits to Growth' author Prof. Jørgen Randers, and Scandinavian construction company Skanska) as well as other departments across the University (such as Built Environment, Business, Life Sciences and Psychology).
We are active members of a number of key networks, including the Green Economy Coalition, Renewable Energy and International Law (REIL), the Capital Markets Climate Initiative (CMCI) - set up by Greg Barker MP - and the Cambridge Cleantech Consortium.
Our core research questions are focused around (i) personal motivations and (ii) systems change, set against the challenges of sustainability. We have four key areas of research:
Details of current projects can be found on our website: www.anglia.ac.uk/gsi
We currently have six PhD/ProfDoc students, working on projects such as the role of poverty in India's transition toward sustainability, cleantech startups and markets, and resilience within East African communities. If you are interested in a PhD/ProfDoc in any area related to sustainability, please contact one of the team to discuss further - we would be delighted to hear from you.
