This module is designed to meet the needs of Registered Nurses, Health Visitors, Midwives and other Health Care Professionals currently employed in an area, either in hospital or community setting, where Wound Management forms a significant part of the workload.

This module is based upon gaining knowledge in wound healing at a cellular level thus enabling you to assess wounds of differing aetiologies in their clinical setting. Wound-healing technologies are more advanced which requires the nurse to critically appraise and make informed decisions on the use of such products and care strategies.

Topics studied on the course will include:

• Physiology of wound healing, underlying factors, wound bed preparation
• Strategies and advanced technologies
• Research for healing and non-healing wounds
• Developing quality wound care for individuals

Assessment

Students will be assessed through a Multiple Choice Questionnaire (30 questions) exam and a 4000 word essay.
