Research and Critical Thinking
Level 5
15 Credits
The module may be delivered by a number of methods utilising a workbook and tutorial support or may be classroom based. The module is designed to develop students' awareness of the need to underpin professional practice by the use of published research and up to date evidence. This is a key requirement of two major registering bodies within health care, the HPC and NMC as evidenced by their Codes of Standards and Conduct. It is an important skill for both students and emergent practitioners within health and social care as they develop their knowledge and skills towards registration.
The workbook 'Research and Critical Thinking' includes a number of activities for the student to complete; it is not a requirement of the module that the student submits the workbook for marking. Completion of the workbook leads the student to access published research studies relevant to their own area of practice and is expected to be completed by those undertaking the Distance and open learning routes. Extensive electronic resources are available through Anglia Ruskin University Digital Library, library's databases and e-journal collection.
