An Introduction to the Palliative Care of Children and Young People
Level 5 and 6
15 Credits
The module is aimed at any professional working with children and young people and/or their families who have, or may have, palliative care needs.
Its aim is to develop your knowledge and understanding of the needs of children and young people who require palliative care, and the evidence-based interventions and strategies that might be used to improve their care. The needs of the child and young person's family, carers and society and how these might be most effectively met will also be considered.
In order to take this module, you will need to have some responsibility for delivering care or services to children and young people and their families with palliative care needs. However, we recognise that during the module you may not be actively involved in delivering palliative care to this client group. You must be able to consider the module content in relation to your area of practice and to consider how you might use it to inform and/or enable care and/or service delivery in your daily practice.
