Educational Practice for Professional Learning for NMC Registrants

Level 6

30 Credits

In 2006 The Nursing Midwifery Council (NMC) published the document Standards to support learning and teaching in practice where they outlined the requirements for nurses to support students at different levels of their education. Principle E (NMC 2006 p.16) states that 'the NMC will only record a teaching qualification for those who have undertaken an NMC approved teaching preparation programme and successfully completed the outcomes of stage 4 of the framework'.

The purpose of this module is for students to demonstrate the competencies of a stage four teacher in order to obtain a recordable qualification of teacher with the Nursing Midwifery Council.

For the assignment students will undertake a Portfolio including 3 summatively assessed teaching sessions, reflective accounts and evidence to support statements to meet the 360 hours required for the recordable professional award.
