Managing People - Achieving business goals though teamwork

 

 

Although senior management will say that 'people are our most important asset', following this through to the frontline can be challenging, especially for new managers recently promoted out of an operational role. Human resources management - and especially team building - is a cornerstone of operational success, and without this knowledge, new managers can find their role surprisingly difficult.

This half-day session provides an overview of the HR function as it applies to frontline managers, and looks at the importance of effective HR management to the delivery of organisational goals. Delegates will examine current HR challenges - such as skills shortages, or workforce planning - and will consider the responses to these challenges provided by current HR theory. This will enable delegates to identify the HR practices most relevant to their role, and will provide delegates with an overview of the interrelated nature of HR in activities such as recruitment and selection, professional development, and performance management.

  • An ideal overview of HR policy and practice for first time managers, irrespective of workplace context.
  • Builds confidence in team building and management, especially for those with no experience of HR or team leadership.
  • Provides an overview of essential HR management skills, particularly developing teams.
