Clinical Human Factors and Conflict Management Workshop

Every day in the NHS, tens of thousands of patients are treated safely by dedicated healthcare professionals who are motivated to provide high quality and safe clinical care. For the vast majority of patients, the treatment they receive alleviates or improves their symptoms and is a positive experience. However, an unacceptable number of patients are harmed as a result of their treatment or as a consequence of their admission to hospital.

The aim of this workshop is to provide an introduction to the concept of human factors in healthcare, discussing how its elements can be applied by individuals and teams working to improve patient safety. It aims to build awareness of the importance of human factors in making changes in developing a safety culture for both patients and staff.

This workshop provides an opportunity for individuals to further develop skills in critical thinking and professional decision making. Therefore empowering individuals to manage adverse incidents in clinical practice more efficiently and effectively, promoting the well being of the patient throughout the holistic journey.
