Choosing the right course

We offer 4 different full-time English with Academic Skills courses (subject to availability) to suit students with different levels of English. The table below will tell you which course is right for your current level of English and which courses you need to do to reach the required level for your degree course.

Each course takes 12 weeks to complete and successful completion will raise your IELTS score by the equivalent of one point. In order to successfully complete the course you need to attend a minimum of 85% of the course and have a minimum pass rate of 50% in our tests. If you pass our course you will not need to take IELTS again.

There are 3 12-week EAS entry-points per year, usually starting in September, January, and May/June. Please refer to our Application form for exact dates.

Each 12-week course also has a 6-week entry point if you need to top-up your IELTS score by 0.5 or if your current IELTS score is down in one or two elements (successful completion of the 6 week course will raise your IELTS score by 0.5 of a point).

NB The maximum class size for our EAS courses is 18. This does not apply to lectures, which can be delivered in groups of up to 80.
