Dementia Care Workshop

Workshop

The number of people who have a diagnosis of dementia is increasing and is set to rise. Recent policy and media attention has highlighted that people who have dementia are likely to be admitted to the acute hospital setting. This may mean that care staff require training to help to understand and care for the individual.

This one day workshop will help staff to:

  • Develop an understanding of dementia and how this may impact on the individual and their family/ care givers
  • Develop person centred approaches to care
  • Develop strategies which may be helpful in practice

Entry Requirements

This workshop is suitable for:
  • All health and social care staff who work within the hospital setting
  • All care staff who want to learn more about the person who has dementia
  • All staff who want to make a difference

All staff who attend will be expected to:
  • Actively participate and contribute in small group discussions
  • Bring case examples from practice
